A challenge in today’s economic climate

Generating an income from savings is a challenge in today’s economic climate. Lower interest rates mean that it is cheaper to borrow money and people have more to spend, hopefully, stimulating the economy and reducing the risk of deflation. At no time prior to the March 2009 rate cut had interest rates in the UK fallen below 2% – the level they reached following the Great Depression of the 1930s.
