Personal Injury Investment Newsletter Autumn/Winter 2006

I am pleased to welcome you to the second edition of our Personal Injury Investment Newsletter.

I am sure you will find much interesting reading. We start with a follow up item from our first edition on the subject of Personal Injury Trusts, which considers their potential wider application.

As regards periodical payments, the recent Court of Appeal decision in Flora v Wakom has spawned a brace of articles – first, our guest writer, Gerard McDermott QC, examines the issues and the likely impact of the decision. Following that, we look at how defendants fund periodical payments and whether the Flora case might bring about changes.

Thanks to those of you who provided feedback on our first edition. As a result, we have included a piece on investment theory for busy lawyers entitled “Oil and Water” – read on and you’ll see why.
Feedback is always welcome.

Since the last edition, we have grown. Nick Leech and Tony Doidge have joined us as partners.  Nick will already be well known to many practitioners. Tony is part of our general financial services
team, specialising in commercial and residential mortgages. Their profiles feature within. Our newsletter is available in a variety of formats including e-mail. If you have colleagues or friends
who would benefit from receiving our newsletter or, if you would like more information on matters discussed in this publication, please complete the attached form and return to me.

Finally, many thanks to those who have supported us and used our services. Our aim remains to provide service and advice of the highest quality to our clients and their legal advisers.
